The Idaho Hispanic Foundation’s Latino Kinship Program is designed to support Latino relatives who are raising children within their family or community.
We recognize the unique challenges and strengths of kinship caregivers and provide culturally affirming support every step of the way.
Caring for children within the family is an act of love and strength. Our program walks alongside kinship caregivers with understanding, respect, and practical support—so families can thrive together.
We offer culturally affirming support groups for Latino kinship caregivers, including grandparents, aunts, uncles, siblings, and extended family members.
These groups provide emotional support, peer connection, and shared learning in a space that respects Latino culture, values, and family traditions.
Our program provides parenting guidance and child well-being support tailored to kinship caregivers.
We help families strengthen parenting skills, support children’s emotional and mental health, and address behavioral and developmental needs using culturally responsive and trauma-informed approaches.
We assist Latino families in navigating community resources and social services, including schools, healthcare, housing, and family support systems.
Our team offers personalized guidance to help families understand available services and successfully access the support they need.
We provide educational workshops for Latino families and kinship caregivers focused on parenting education, family wellness, financial stability, advocacy, and self-care.
Workshops are practical, accessible, and designed to meet the real-life needs of Hispanic and Latino families.
Our monthly meetings create consistent opportunities for kinship caregivers to connect, learn, and build community. These gatherings strengthen family networks, reduce isolation, and promote shared support among Latino kinship families.
Families in the Latino Kinship Program have access to our on-site community resource center, which provides direct assistance and referrals, including:
Housing assistance and housing referrals
Document reading and form assistance
Food assistance for families
Clothing support for children and caregivers
